Heartbreak is funny to everyone but the heartbroken. -Geoffrey Eugenides The Marriage Plot.
This Thanksgiving vacation didn’t exactly live up to all that I’d made it out to be. But I guess I’m thankful for the horrific series of events that have happened. It really takes something HUGE, something unexpected and resolute, to move on and not look back. Nonstop crying always ensures, but it’s heavy and relieving and it counters the physiological effects of grief, the “disturbance in the blood,” as Eugenides says. Thankfully I’ve had his book to keep me company. Somehow reading about heartbroken young lovers and relating to them makes everything about my situation kind of comical and romantic. Not as depressing and humiliating. And also thankful to my friend who introduced me to this song which is fantastic. This entire album, Love Songs for the Retarded couldn’t be more fitting. Things will get better right?
I don’t think it’s too hard to be happy. New 35 mm photos coming soon…
